People along the Amazon River use these fans to heat up cooking fires, then as the evening wears on, to keep mosquitoes at bay. I bartered for these fans with the Urarina people along the Rio Chambira in Peru. These fans are about 12-15 inches across and are probably made from the catirina palm.
